An Adventure in Idaho.

Day One:

I had to run up to Idaho to pick up Lola. I took off early Friday morning with no real plans. I figured I would grab Lola explore a few places. I had the whole weekend to find birds and explore new places. Based on my research I had a few places in mind to try. I had one particular goal in mind. I wanted to shoot some huns. For some reason, huns have been my nemesis. I’ve only found them a couple of times and can’t seem to connect with the shot when I do.

I drove into some beautiful country and explored several places. I ended up wishing better prepared with maps or my laptop to know what what private and what was not. At one point, I ended up a lot further West than I had planned….

Pups are doing great.  Starting to walk.  Starting to show interest in people.  They are getting tons of attention from the kids.  Still the Black and White Male is the largest, and seems to be the most dominant.  The Black and White Female isn’t very far behind though.

 

The pups are two weeks old now.  All of them have their eyes open.  They are getting more mobile, but still not walking.  They have been handled every day and now I’m letting the kids have more time with them.  The Male is the largest, followed by the Black and White Female, and the Liver and White Female.

 

09/18/2010-09/19/2010

The alarm went of at 2:30am Saturday Morning.  Wow that was early.  My buddy Caleb picked me up and we were off to see about finding some Sage Boomers.  We were to meet up with some friends, Andrew and the Goob.  We had a lot of miles to travel.  It’s always good fun traveling with Caleb.

I had sent Lola up to Rich Heaton and Tina was tending to the pups, so I was dogless. Luckily Dave was kind enough to let me borrow Roxy who I had sold to him a few months back as a started dog. So Roxy (English Pointer), Oprah (German Wire Hair), Jonesy (Gordon Setter)  and The Dude (Gordon Setter) were all ready to roll.

09/11/2010-09/12/2010

I had a great time with Lola on the Grouse opener here in Utah.  I had done quite a bit of research with maps. I knew the general area that I wanted to go.  I was given some great info from a friend (thanks). I had taken the time to find the GPS coordinates for a few spots I wanted to be sure and check out. I even knew right where I wanted to camp.  I was going solo, so I left duplicate copies with my wife so she could give them to the search posse if I didn’t come back.  I felt pretty well prepared.  Until it came time to leave and I couldn’t find my GPS.   There’s another reason I need to get a Garmin Astro.  My Etrex Legend has disappeared.

We ended up with a smaller litter than I had hope for, but 3 really nice pups were born yesterday 09/05/2010.  Two Females and One Male.  All of them are doing well so far.
